A global research team led by Chinese scientists has achieved quantum-secured communication over 12,900 kilometers between China and South Africa. It marks a major step toward a global quantum network.
Using the Jinan-1 micro-nano satellite and compact ground stations, the team from the University of Science and Technology of China enabled real-time quantum key distribution (QKD) between the satellite and the stations. (CGTN)
A group of scientists led by Prof. ZHANG Qiang and PAN Jianwei from the University of Science and Technology of China (USTC) have successfully demonstrated entanglement swapping with two independent sources 12.5 km apart using 103 km optical fiber.
Quantum Cryptographic Research Group of University of Science and Technology of China (USTC) of Chinese Academy of Sciences perfected the security proof of the round-robin-differential-phase-shift quantum key distribution theoretically. The RRDPS protocol with the lowest number of packet and the longest achievable distance was realized in the world for the first time. The problems of large pulse number and low efficiency were solved.
